OUR SERVICES

Consulting

We have been solving complex problems in industry since 1995. Over the years, we have worked on many different projects in various industries. We adapt as the market need changes and embrace new challenges.

Power generation image

We have experience in the optimisation of both existing and developing power generation systems, with capabilities spanning the fossil fuel, nuclear and renewable energy sectors. Using CFD, Aerotherm can ensure that power stations operate at ideal performance, availability and reliability levels.

nuclear image

CFD can be used for design optimisation and safety evaluation of nuclear systems such as high-temperature gas-cooled reactors.

We are proficient in all major renewable energy sectors, such as wind, solar and hydropower. Applications of CFD in renewable energy include wind turbines, green buildings and hydroelectric dams.

Combustion image

Using Simcenter STAR-CCM+ we can evaluate the effects of various combustion parameters in a virtual combustion chamber. This enables the characterisation and optimisation of combustion reactions, which can be challenging in real-world scenarios due to confounding variables and the transient nature of combustion phenomena. We are skilled in coal combustion as well as liquid and gaseous fuel combustion reactions.

Our experience in the civil industry includes external flow analysis around buildings, HVAC systems, human comfort studies in open or closed spaces and large-scale water-works projects, such as wastewater treatment and dams. CFD can be used to reduce costs and lead times, especially if it is used in the early stages of the design phase.

We can model various fans and pumps to address problems such as poor efficiency, vibrations and general adverse flow characteristics.

Most engineering processes include some form of pollution control. We have developed reliable modelling methods to evaluate and improve the performance of typical pollution control systems such as electrostatic precipitators, pulse jet fabric filter plants and cyclonic separation systems.

Complex chemical reactions that are governed by the working fluid’s mixing rate and temperature can be modelled with Simcenter STAR-CCM+. This includes processes that involve reactions between multiple fluids and/or gases that are typically encountered in industry.

Fire Image

Fire and smoke safety is a critical feature to consider during building design. Fire and smoke propagation can be modelled and the results can be used to make informed decisions regarding the placement of fire detection and suppression systems, emergency exits and ventilation shafts

Utilising discrete element modelling (DEM) technologies, we can model bulk material transport via conveyor belts, screw conveyors, pneumatic conveyors, augers or chutes.

Aerospace image

We have experience in modelling and optimising various air- and spacecraft, including fixed-wing aircrafts, rotor aircrafts, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and rockets.

Our capabilities in the automotive industry range from internal combustion modelling, external vehicle aerodynamics, performance evaluation and thermal cooling of turbochargers, engine and brake disc cooling to passenger thermal comfort.

The internal and external flow characteristics of data centres can be studied with the use of Simcenter STAR-CCM+. Maintaining the specified operational conditions through effective cooling is not only important for the efficiency, reliability and longevity of electronic devices, but it also a regulatory requirement. Using Siemens Simcenter Flomaster, the 3D flow analysis can be augmented with a 1D co-simulation of the pipe network. The cooling capacity of data centres can be studied under steady or transient conditions, such as if the thermal load suddenly changes or if there is a power outage.

CFD is applied in the pulp and paper making industry with a wide range of applicability, from thermo-hydraulic characterisation of large digestor vessels, boiler/combustion optimisation, emission control studies to component level optimisation studies.

Our expertise in the field of fossil fuel power generation systems includes coal combustion reactions, burner optimisation, modelling of boilers, air heaters, electrostatic precipitators, fabric filter plants, cooling towers, air-cooled condensers, mills, classifiers and fans, flue gas conditioning, air flow distribution and erosion reduction.
